Become a Pro this Summer with These 5 Must-Listen-To Copywriting Podcasts

Now that summer is in full swing and we’re taking a step back from the grind. This is a great opportunity to sharpen up on your copywriting skills and become a better copywriter. So, why not relax on the beach and listen to some top copywriting podcasts?

1. Hot Copy

“Tune in for copywriting tips, shortcuts, writing resources, interviews and laughs. All focused on helping you become a better copywriter.”

Australian copywriters Belinda Weaver and Kate Toon get into the nitty-gritty of the science behind copywriting. They break everything down for the listener, making it simple and easy to grasp the psychology of copy. The duo also brings on some of the most successful writers to discuss their professional journey and share their knowledge and expertise in the industry.

2. Copywriters Podcast

“Hi, I’m David Garfinkel. I help people turn their ideas and words into money.”

Seasoned copywriter David Garfinkel provides insight into the business of copywriting, sharing techniques and processes on how to attract the right clients, grow and scale your business as a freelance copywriter and make a good income while doing it.

Podcast titles include; ‘Transformation Stories that Convert’, ‘Nightmare Clients and What to do About Them’ and ‘When you Should Set Up an Agency.’ Well, you get the gist of what it’s all about.

3. A Way With Words

“An Upbeat and lively radio show and podcast about language examined through culture, history and family”.

This is my personal favourite podcast  – not so much directly relating to copywriting but rather a history of language. The podcast discusses anything language-related from slang and regional dialects, to etymology, literature, grammar and old sayings.

The podcast is easy listening, thanks to hosts Martha and Grant Barnette, who captivate their listeners with their relaxing commentary and engaging content.

4. Write Bites

“An audio series where we discuss writing, marketing, and freelancing during one of my daily walks around the neighborhood.”

Want to become a copywriter but don’t know where to start? Write Bites delves into the intricacies of copywriting and guides listeners as they start their journey into the industry.

Each episode is a 10-minute chat covering all things copywriting, including discussions on marketing and freelancing. So, if you’re looking for an easy, bite-size podcast that covers all bases, this is the one for you.

5. The Geniuses of Copywriting

“You want free traffic? Start a podcast, call it ‘Geniuses Of Copywriting’, and all the best copywriters will want to be on the show, because they’ll want to be a Genius Of Copywriting”

A genius podcast concept, each episode features host Brian Cassingena bringing on some of the world’s top copywriters and marketers. Guests share their success stories, secret tricks and tips of the business, as well as the steps they’ve taken to get to where they are today.

Guests include Chris Wright, who made a name for himself by becoming a pro at converting cold traffic – a copywriter’s greatest nemesis. Sue Rice, known as ‘The Female David Ogilvy’, makes an appearance, although she prefers to be called, ‘Long Haired David Ogilvy.’ Not to mention the conversation with copywriting legend, Drayton Bird. According to Ogilvy, “…nobody knows more about direct marketing than Drayton Bird.”
