I’m a writer: long, short, funny or straight. And I love to tell stories, like one summer I was in a deli in downtown Manhattan. Outside, a kid selling bottled water under some scaffolding kept calling out “Iiiice cooold, waaatah.” No one stopped.
Finally, some dude––from Brooklyn for sure––passed and shouted to the boy, “how you gonna sell water in the shade, where ain’t nobody hot??”
The kid shifted his cooler forward into the sunlight and sold a few bottles. I learned so much that day. Most important, don’t sell water in the shade.
