building-great-rapport-thank-you-copywriter-collective

A simple “thank you” can create recurring business.

I know you may say ‘doesn’t everyone do this’ but quite often we overlook the obvious. I have a very successful marketing friend that has a ‘thank you‘ in his email signature in case he forgets it in his main letter.

When someone contacts you for a quote or an inquiry always thank them for their call. I have had clients tell me they picked me because of my polite thank you…that it made them comfortable working with me. This is the start of building rapport with them.

When you do a job or a favour for someone and they compliment you on a job well done, a thank you will go a long way to attracting recurring work from that person.

When talking to a prospect, client or anyone for that matter, a simple ‘thank you‘ can help build instant rapport. People love doing business with polite well mannered persons.

It is alright to go back and thank someone that may have helped you some time back. In fact if you show up at a later date to thank them they will remember you which may create future business for you.

If several people call you for your services and you have a busy work load, which ones would go to the top of your list? If you are like me you would probably pick the ones that you feel comfortable with…the polite ones…the ones you would enjoy working with.

Now I have known businesses that will only work with clients in a certain price range rather than who they would rather work with…sometimes it turns out a bad experience. In my earlier days I worked only for the money and attracted some bad experiences. In later years I worked only for certain clients that I felt comfortable with…this has given me a 100% success rate also increasing my income considerably.

Many years ago after a financial disaster I had a difficult job picking myself up and moving forwards again. Now I was doing some work one day for a client when he noticed my depression. This bloke was very observant and asked me “why are you  feeling sorry for yourself.”

After hearing my story he went on to tell me he had been diagnosed with cancer three times…bankrupt twice and was now once again striding ahead after defeating these major issues. Now this was a major turning point in my life as I felt a bit ashamed of myself…this man had gone through a much tougher time than me and was getting on with life.

It was only recently that I remembered I had forgotten to thank him for his success formula. Now this man has gone ahead in leaps and bounds, becoming a very sort after speaker, coach and famous author worldwide.

He now has a huge following and is very difficult to reach out to.

After much perseverance I managed to gratefully attract his attention through LinkedIn. I thanked him for being my ‘silent coach’.

His reply “Thank you John. I am glad things have turned out right for you.”

I’ve been browsing online more than 2 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours.
It is pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made good
content as you did, the internet will be a lot more useful than ever before.
